Geoff Amos GA01 becomes Stagecoach 200

Posted by Julie Tomlin on Sep 07 2011

Stagecoach website notes the following changes:

Route GA01/GA02 becomes 200

We are introducing a new route called 200 to replace the Geoff Amos Coaches service following their collapse earlier in August.

New route 200 will run between Banbury and Daventry via Wardington, Byfield, Woodford Halse and Badby. Due to the roadworks on the A361, the service will serve Great Bourton and Cropredy on a diversionary route which will be reviewed on completion of the roadworks at the end of October.

The service will run on an hourly timetable at slightly different times to those operated by Geoff Amos Coaches, and will include an additional morning and evening journey between Woodford Halse and Banbury. We will be keeping a close eye on patronage to see whether any further enhancements can be made in the future.

In order to provide a faster and more direct service, route 200 will not serve the Horton Hospital or Morrisions within Banbury which are already served by routes B1, B2 and S4, and Staverton which is already served by route 65. End to end journeys will be nearly 15% faster, which we hope will make the service more attractive to those considering a day in Banbury or Daventry.

A new range of fares will be available on route 200, introducing discounted return tickets from Banbury and Daventry to Woodford Halse. Single fares will rise so that the return prices will be similar to two Geoff Amos single fares. Child fares will increase from half to two thirds of the adult fare to match our other routes.

Between Banbury and Daventry the Dayrider Gold ticket will allow unlimited travel for £7.00 adult or £5.00 child. Further discounts with Megarider season tickets will also be available, including new Daventry Megarider and Daventry Megarider Plus zones in addition to the Megarider Gold.

New route 12 will run from Daventry to Rugby, starting from Long Buckby Rail Station and running via Braunston, Onley Park and Dunchurch.

See here for the new 200 service timetable.

Bourtons Parish Council have worked hard to secure an hourly service for our parish so please support this service.  At the moment we are unlikely to keep it after the A361 roadworks end.  We have a limited time to show we need it!  Thank you!
