Learn about Renewable Energy with Cherwell District Council

Posted by Julie Tomlin on Mar 18 2011

The Government is rewarding people for generating their own energy and Cherwell residents can find out how to benefit during an event this month.

Anyone installing renewable technology such as solar panels, wind turbines or wood-heated boilers at their homes can claim the Feed-in Tariff.

So not only will they pay for less on their bills, they will also receive money from the Government for each unit of energy they produce.

Councillor George Reynolds, Cherwell’s portfolio holder for environment, recreation and health, said: “Cherwell taxpayers are already benefiting from this through our solar panels at the council's fleet depot. Now everyone has the chance to see if they can do the same on their own home."

The event will take place from 6.30pm to 8pm on Wednesday, 30 March, at Bodicote House, featuring speakers from the Energy Saving Trust.

Those who would like to attend should email ClimateChange@cherwell-dc.gov.uk or call 01295 221957 by Wednesday, 23 March.
