New bus service scheme to start 13th December.

Posted by Julie Tomlin on Nov 28 2011

From Monday 13th December, Northamptonshire County Council working in partnership with Oxfordshire County Council and Lincolnshire County Council, will be extending the on demand `CountyConnect `bus service to The Bourtons to part replace the Stagecoach Service 200 service.

CountyConnect is a demand responsive bus service which serves Banbury and runs between 7am to 7pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 6pm on Saturdays. Passengers must pre-book their journeys in advance and can book up to a week ahead and on the same day with a minimum of 1 hours notice (subject to availability). Bookings can be made by phone, online and by SMS Text Message.

See more at their website which has now been updated (although the villages are not yet showing on the leaflets as they are to be re-printed) but Cropredy and Bourtons are now shown on the website.

The fares are still being worked on and will be available soon however there is a special offer in place until the end of the year which is buy a single and get a return journey free.  From the new year, a multi-ticket will be available offering discounts for regular travellers.  Concessionary passes are also valid.

The CountyConnect bus will pick up from nominated pick up points in the village however if someone lives in an isolated location or has a limiting disability, they can apply for a home pick up however as the service uses conventional low floor buses it cannot go into cul-de-sacs.

Villagers in Great or Little Bourton will be able to use the service to go to Cropredy. (Anyone can use the service).

The service will drop off and pick up from a number of locations in Banbury including Debenhams on Bridge Street, the Hospital, Railway Station, Sainsbury`s, Tesco, Morrisons and the Office village.  They will also look at adding other points if they are suitable and there is demand.
