The Bourtons lose the hourly bus service
Posted by Julie Tomlin on Oct 27 2011First the GOOD NEWS, the A361 is due to re-open at the end of October, so the traffic which has been detouring through Great Bourton and Cropredy should return to the A361.
Second, the sad news that despite all efforts to persuade the Stagecoach bus company to continue the 200 route via the Bourtons and Cropredy they are adamant that for economic and logistical reasons they will cut out the detour. The Stagecoach press release states that the service will change to its new shorter route from the 28th November.
I have been told that the bus drivers are telling passengers that the change will be at the end of this week, 29.10.11. but I have been assured by Allan Field, Bus Services Manager for OCC that he will ask the Stagecoach Manager at Banbury to advise his drivers according to the information in Stagecoach’s own press release. Please let me know if the SC 200 buses do not continue until 28th November.
Perhaps the next move should be to try to persuade the operators of the 66 service along the Southam Road to stop to pick up passengers near the Great Bourton turning. Please tell me if that would be worthwhile. Would you go to the A423 to catch a bus? You could alternatively catch it at Little Bourton.
